Machinery Opportunity

Gee and Company Chemical Milling/Treatment Line – Unused

How a Direct From Site Event Made This Possible

A late addition to our Blue Etch Anodising Facility event, this chemical treatment line was intended to be used for the chemical milling of titanium and high-strength nickel alloy components.

This line was never commissioned and used for production as the line builder, Gee & Company, ceased trading prior to completion. All components were installed and on site at the metal forging company who purchased the line. The unfinished line was kept on site in storage until the space was needed for other production.

Despite not being a complete treatment line, there was still plenty of potential for the line as it had all the fundamentals to be easily modified for chemically treating a variety of applications. As the tanks were made from PVDF, PVC, polypropylene and stainless steel, the chemical resistance and durable properties made them practical for applications from chrome coating to chemical milling a wide range of metals.

Also realising its potential, it wasn’t long after being advertised for sale that the line was bought by a company specialising in the purposes it was designed for.

Where Did It Go?

Brought by a UK-based metal finishing company specialising in chemically treating metal to the high precision standards of aerospace and power generating industries, the line was a perfect match for their services. Suitable for the range of metal etching services they offer, from chemical etching to electrolytic etching, the money they were able to save from this excellent value opportunity (including the modifications to be done) was still a more cost-efficient option in comparison to buying a brand new treatment line.

Expertise of Our Team

Following the purchase of the treatment line, logistics arrangements were made in collaboration with individuals from the new owners to dismantle and load the line from where it was stored. The line was loaded onto two 40ft trailers with the additional use of a Hiab vehicle to assist with offloading the goods when the line reached its new premises.
