Description

The Wheelabrator Spencer Halstead M101 is a flexible, low-cost solution to batch clean tumble-proof components in the most efficient and economical way.

Features

  • Compact design, simple operating principle
  • Forced but gentle turning and tumbling of the parts for all-round shot impingement
  • Targeted high performance shot blasting for specific applications
  • Self contained dust removal plant
  • Self contained sieving and cleaning system
  • Self contained over size sprue and debris rejection facility.
  • Continuous and thorough shot removal

Applications

  • Descaling of forged and heat treated parts
  • Desanding of ferrous and non-ferrous metal castings
  • Deburring of metallic and non-metallic parts
  • Deflashing of die cast parts
  • Contaminant removal

Processing

The tumbling action of the belt conveyor ensures that components are continually exposed to the blast stream and completely cleaned. For easy unloading, the belt conveyor is reversed, delivering the components into either a loading skip or stillage.

Optimised shot blast effect

During shot blasting, the work pieces, regardless of size and shape, are evenly and continuously tumbled. This combined with the fanned pattern of the shot from above, produces total coverage of the blast action upon the parts cleaning all the faces as they are presented to the continuous blasting action.

During tumbling, the parts continually undergo shot removal through the perforated belt, enabling the workpiece interiors and cavities to be perfectly cleaned and left free from shot in any entrapment areas.

Benefits of the barrel-type shot blast machines design are :

  • Rubber belt conveyor to protect the work
  • “Plug and play“ characteristics, i.e. the machines can be installed and put into operation in the shortest possible time
  • Space-saving, ergonomic design
  • Distortion-resistant rigid housing
  • Process-appropriate blast chamber shielded with large, smooth, and highly wear resistant liners especially designed to withstand abrasion by shot impact
  • Pneumatic / magnetic separation system for cleaning the shot
  • Modular design allowing for optional equipment to be retrofitted or exchanged to accommodate production changes
  • Automatic separation of both dust and waste products
  • Integral dust removal system
