Description

Camfil Farr venturi wet collector offers the advantage of simple and cost-effective design and minimum space requirements on the shop floor and the best solution to remove fine particles with high dust loads from the extracted raw gas stream of industrial applications. Effective on dusts such as sticky powder, greasy vapours or magnesium and titanium dust.

Venturi wet scrubbers are a diverse group of separators used in widely varying sizes in many branches of industry. Since venturi scrubbers can handle larger air volumes up to 40,000 m³/h (23,500 cfm), they are used in many industrial applications, even in high-temperature applications, and manage high dust loads with fine particles like explosive dust, steel dust, aluminium, magnesium and titanium dust, sticky powder or greasy vapours.

Venturi scrubbers are the most widely used type of high-efficiency wet scrubber and are available in numerous different forms (e. g. cylindrical throat, ring-gap scrubber). The characteristic feature of this type of wet scrubber is the convergent-divergent cross-sectional profile of the “Venturi”.

The highest gas velocity is reached in the narrowest cross-section, the throat. Scrubbing liquid is injected just before or in the throat to the gas stream – alternative liquid-to-gas routings are also possible – and is divided into droplets by the gas.

As a result of the extremely high relative velocity between the gas and the liquid in the throat, particle removal by impingement on the liquid droplets is extremely efficient. Venturi scrubbers, therefore, lend themselves especially well to the removal of extremely fine dust such as condensation and sublimation dust.

Centrifugal Wet Scrubber

Vertical wet scrubbing unit for capture and removal of sparking or flammable materials. The unit is complete with recirculation pump, hand sludge settlement tank, fan and scrubber tower.

Air enters passing through a spray zone where the incoming airstream is thoroughly wetted, before passing through an internal static impeller that causes the water spray air to rotate within the tower.

The base of the tower discharges into the sump below the scrubber continuously evacuating the heavy dust and combined liquids. The combined water spray and air passes up through a second static impeller causing the air to rotate within the tower and impinge upon the internal surfaces. The collected water and entrained dust will then drain down into the base of the tower evacuated as above. The heavy particulates will settle out in the base of the sump with other materials settling as the water passes over a series of weirs within the base section. Collected materials are removed by hand, raking out the solids into a suitable receptacle placed under the sloping hopper of the sump tank. A mesh rake would be most suitable for this purpose . The sump also have drain valves for removal of the contaminated liquor periodically .

The clean humid air will continue up the vertical tower passing out through the central fan mounted on top. This is a narrow width high-pressure fan designed to create sufficient velocity in the base of the tower to thoroughly mix the incoming airstream with the water. A vertical 3 phase pump (15kW) is mounted within the hopper to recirculate the liquid within the scrubber unit. Water level probes are mounted within the unit to maintain the correct liquid level within the sump.

The inlet section of the scrubber unit is nominally 200mm in diameter equating to rating of approximately 2260 cubic metres per hour (1330 cfm ) at an assumed inlet velocity of 20m/s.

The fan is directly driven by a 15kW, 3 phase motor mounted on top of the scrubbing tower fan.

The unit is supplied without an electrical control panel but will require one to operate the main fan, recirculation pump and to monitor the water level via the water level probes.
