Description

A used 5340 tons John Shaw rubber press with up stroking rubber pad, ideal for one off, low volume or prototype production parts with deep draws or complex shapes for aerospace, automotive and other applications with low cost tooling.

It can also be used for various other forming processes. Press has been regularly maintained in an aerospace application and is in working order.

We understand a refurbishment was carried out circa 2008 which included hard -chrome plating of the hydraulic rams.

Technical Description

  • Tonnage: 5340 tons
  • Loading table (x2) - One each side, two jobs can be set up for continuous alternating production
  • Draw plate area (two off, left & right shuttle) - 1800mm x 1200mm
  • Two fast up rams
  • Four main rams
  • Diameter of rams - 580mm
  • Stroke of rams - 600mm
  • Rubber pad size - 1800mm x 1200mm
  • Rubber pad depth - 250mm
  • Daylight: 300mm (was originally 450mm but reduced by 150mm - aluminium stiffening plates added to platens)
  • Rotary pump drive motors (x2) - 85HP capacity of each pump, 72GPM @ 900 psi at full stroke & 36 GPM @ 2340 psi on half stroke.
