Description

JLS precipitation hardening & ageing, forced convection oven built to AMS2750D & Nadcap class 2 (± 5°C) standard, previously used for the heat treatment of aluminium aerospace components and last calibrated November 2024.

Description

  • Oven type: Forced convection
  • Oven atmosphere: Re-circulating air
  • Doors: The front of the structure only would be fitted with one pair of fully insulated swing doors, nominally 1200mm x 1200mm.
  • Fans: 2 roof mounted fans would be provided, each driven by a 2.2kW motor.
  • Air flow: Vertically through work chamber
  • Heat elements: The structure would be fitted with sheathed heating elements.
  • Elements control: One Paragon Alliance CD3000 two-leg thyristor stack, rated at 75A
  • Ventilation: Manually controlled vent with air replacement through intake around the fan shafts.
  • Temperature control equipment: A Eurotherm 3508 digital PIO programmable temperature controller would be provided. Unit stores a maximum of 1O programs of 500 segments each. Unit incorporates Modbus comms for communication with recorder.
  • Temperature override: A separate Eurotherm 3216i instrument would be wired into independent safety circuitry to close the unit down in the event of failure of the main temperature controller or thyristor.
  • Temperature recorder: Eurotherm 6100A 100mm 6 channel graphic recorder with 5.5" touch screen, 32MB internal memory and ethernet communications. Supplied with "Review Ute" & "Bridge Ute" software for basic remote configuration & monitoring via a suitable networked PC. Unit records digital output from Eurotherm 3508 unit via Modbus comms and analogue inputs directly from additional 2 thermocouples. An ethernet port and PC software is included for remote monitoring and auditing.
  • Timers: Not included
  • Search port: The oven is equipped with a capped tube through one wall to enable thermocouples to be passed through for TUS & SAT purposes.
  • Calibration: All necessary thermocouples were supplied complete with UKAS calibration certificates. Calibration temperatures: 100, 200 & 300°C. Instrumentation would be calibrated by an independent third party company prior to AMS2750O testing.
  • Testing: A 9-Point uniformity survey was conducted by JLS. Uniformity to be ±5°C @ 200°C. The oven was tested to AMS2750D standards by an independent third party company prior to despatch
  • Panel wiring: All electrical equipment within the panel is fully wired to marked terminals.
  • Oven wiring: All electrical equipment on oven structure is wired complete to the control panel.
  • Foundations: A firm and level floor is required.

Control Panel

A steel oven-mounted cabinet would be supplied to accommodate the following:

  • Programmable temperature controller one temperature overrider.
  • Temperature recorder two fan motor starters one element Thyristor.
  • Safety contactor one mains isolator.
  • Signal lamps for fan running, over temperature condition and mains on.

Thermocouple

Separate stainless steel sheathed type K thermocouples would be provided, for control/recording & override, as follows:

  • 1 off control/recording via Eurotherm 3508
  • 1 off for override via Eurotherm 3216i
  • 1 off recording - hottest point of oven (as per last TUS) via Eurotherm 6100A
  • 1 off recording - coolest point of oven (as per last TUS) via Eurotherm 6100A

Construction:

  • Framework: Rolled steel sectional material
  • Outer case: 1.6mm mild steel plate
  • Inner Case: 1.6mm mild steel plate
  • Floor: 3mm mild steel plate to facilitate trolley loading
  • Insulation: 75mm mineral wool

Finish

  • Internal: Heat resisting aluminium paint
  • External: Hammer finish blue paint
