Description

A popular method of NDT testing, this fluorescent dye penetrant inspection line was previously used to inspect the surface of components to an aerospace specification.

As part of a restructuring of the business, Aeroforma have announced production operations will cease at the Lostock plant at the end of 2024. Including their existing fluorescent dye penetrant inspection line designed to process aerospace components, this is one of many machinery/equipment to become surplus to Aeroforma going forward.

Compiling with the NDT processing specifications for the aerospace industry, this penetrant dye inspection line is the ideal opportunity for a company to invest in a quality NDT line for a value price.

This enables Type 1 Fluorescent Penetrants to be processed as follows:

  • Method A-Water Washable
  • Level 3 High Sensitivity

The equipment currently has a workshop footprint of nominal dimensions 12 metres by 3 metres, in a straight line that could be re-arranged for a different configuration.

Prospective purchasers are able to visit the facility and view the equipment.

The equipment list is as follows generally working from right to left along the equipment.

Stage 1 - Penetrant Application

The penetrant is hand applied by brush. This station comprises a stainless steel tank of 2550mm x 650mm x 350mm (WxDxH). The tank is mounted on a support stand to bring it to working height and is fitted with a manually operated stainless steel lid in two sections.

Stage 2 - Wash Off Booth

A stainless steel booth with a work areas of 2000mm x 600mm x 950mm (WxDxH), the booth is fitted with a work support grid and mounted on a stand to bring it to working height. Above the tank is a 1400mm high canopy manufactured in stainless steel and painted black internally with provision for UV lighting. Separate manually operated air gun and water gun are fitted.

The penetrant tank and wash off booth are located in a polypropylene bund tray with galvanised grid operator walk way fitted.

Stage 3 - Drying Oven

Electrically heated manufactured in double skinned painted mild steel with thermal insulation. The external dimensions 2370mm x 1360mm x 1220mm (WxDxH) plus 550mm stand.

Twin double opening front doors with the internal dimensions 2000mm x 1000mm x 800 mm (WxDxH) and two grid work support shelves.

Nominal operating temperature 65°C, maximum allowable in this application is 71°C.

Side mounted control panel containing all necessary contactors and circuit protection. Door mounted Watlow electronic temperature controller, heater on/off switch and indicator light, circulation fan on/off switch and indicator light and over temperature warning light.

Date of last calibration 13th November 2024.

Stage 4 - Developer Dust Storm Cabinet

Dust storm cabinet manufactured in steel with a externally painted finish, it's dimensions are 2000mm x 400mm x 400mm (WxDxH) plus tank hopper base sloping to centre. Integral legs to raise to working height. Manually operated hinged lid with gas strut lifting assistance. Internal dust circulation fan interlocked with electromagnetic lid catch to prevent lid from being opened when fan is running.

Stage 5 - Inspection Booth (Not Included)

A freestanding floor mounted inspection booth manufactured from fibre board panels bolted to a framework with stainless steel corner capping. Nominal dimensions 2460mm wide x 1540mm deep x 2370 mm high. Front face fitted with full width and full height black slatted curtaining. Interior surfaces painted black. A 600mm deep work top is fitted along with a wall bracket mounted Magnaflux EV6000 UV inspection lamp.
