Manganese Phosphate coating is popular due to its hardness and outstanding wear resistance. It is used to pre-treat steel prior to painting and to increase corrosion resistance, and for anti-galling and lubrication purposes. The coating creates a heavy crystalline finish on steel surfaces which absorbs oil and other lubricants and is used to improve the smooth function of engines, gears and power transmission systems. Offering continuous protection to objects that are subject to wear.

General Description

A manual treatment line which is in good condition, manufactured by Plasticraft Ltd in 2007 and now surplus to requirements due to the factory space being required for an expansion of other site activities.

The equipment is arranged in a straight line with the load and unload position at the end. The work is carried through the line in stainless steel baskets manually transferred by the operator utilising an overhead electric chain hoist complete with motorised raise lower which is controlled via pendant push buttons.

This is an opportunity to acquire a complete facility in good condition offering considerable savings over the buy new price.

Hoist Equipment

1 Off 125kg SWL electric chain hoist system, to operate under operator control via manual pendant push buttons. Hoist complete with pickup bar to engage with lugs on work baskets.

Runway Support Structure

The overhead hoist runway structure is in mild steel RSJ sections supported by stanchions bolted and levelled on to the factory floor without the need for special foundations. All steel work is painted finish. Approximate length of runway 6.6m at a nominal 2.1m above factory floor level.

Walkway

The full length of the front of the pre-treatment line is served by a raised operator walkway approximately 5.33m long x 0.83m wide. The walkway has grid flooring and painted steel handrailing.

Work Baskets

8 Off Work baskets manufactured in stainless steel with lifting lugs to suit hoist pick up bar. Nominal dimensions 530mm x610mm x 540mm deep. A quantity of matching stainless steel trollies are also available manufactured in stainless steel fitted with swivel castors for ease of movement.

Control Equipment

A main control panel is provided to serve the plant and house all associated controls. Electronic temperature controllers are fitted to regulate the process solution heating systems. The control panel houses the mains incoming isolator along with contactors, circuit breakers, process timers etc. Controls will actuate alarms to protect against solution over temperature or low level.

Tank Heating

Heated tanks are fitted with hairpin type electric heating elements of a size suitable for the tank heat load requirements based on a six hour initial heat up period. The heaters are mounted to the tank flange and are easily removable for cleaning/maintenance. Note Stage A8 vat heater not present.

Drip Shields

Tanks generally have drip shields fitted over adjacent top flanges to stop solution spillage.

Lids

Tanks are provided with lift off stainless steel lids.

Fume Extraction

Fume extraction is provided to stages A1, A2, A4, A6 & A8 in the form of rear lip extraction hoods mounted on the tank flange. Each lip hood is connected to a high level manifold via a vertical offtake complete with adjustable balancing damper.

The high level manifold runs into a centrifugal exhaust fan mounted on a stand behind the line. The exhaust stack is connected to the fan outlet and rises vertically to atmosphere through the factory roof where the fumes are discharged via a high velocity efflux nozzle.

The lip hoods and interconnecting manifold are manufactured in polypropylene and the discharge stack is reinforced with GRP. The discharge stack is fitted with monitoring ports to enable emission monitoring but not the access platform.

The system has been originally designed by Plasticraft in line with the publication ‘Industrial Ventilation’ by the ‘American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists’.
