Supporting Independent Restorers with Our More Value Approach
In a first for Riley Surface World, our customer reach has now expanded into the online industry of content creation.
Having been contacted by the YouTube channel, Restore It, a platform passionate about the restoration of items such as antiques to classic cars, we were able to provide the channel with an industrial shot blaster to assist with the upgrade of their workshop.
Furthermore, an opportunity that wouldn’t have been possible without the value buying options of our used machinery; continue reading to find out what we could offer you.
Who is Restore It?
The YouTube channel of an independent restorer with over 500k followers, Restore It started in 2011 and has only been growing since. Familiar with a few members of our team, the channel’s hands on approach when restoring items from ‘rags to riches’ is an interesting and satisfying watch. You can follow the transformation journey of the antiques/cars as they are returned to their former selves, despite the hurdles on the way.
After recently moving to a new workshop to a more practical space as documented in their previous videos, the channel was looking to upgrade its equipment, including a new shot blaster. Previously owning a hobby grade shot blaster, which was struggling to keep up with the channels shot blasting demands, Restore It found its upgrade opportunity at Rileys.
How Useful is Shot Blasting to the Restoration Industry
Made up of many specialist sectors, the restoration industry includes anything of value that could be historical, sentimental or valuable. Due to the abrasive nature of shot blasting, not any item can survive the process. Most suitable for items made of more durable materials, the process lends itself perfectly to restoring metal antiques to cars.
Used in restoration to remove unwanted layers such as aged painted or naturally formed rust that depreciates the finish, shot blasting gives these items a second chance. The metal base of these items is strong enough to withstand the collision of the media without distortion or impact damage to the form.
As some of Restore It’s latest projects include the restoration of a BMW E30 and a 1970s Tonka T-6 Toy Digger, as just a couple of examples, a shot blaster is an essential bit of kit in the workshop.
